Pop Surrealism

May 19, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Hardy & Nance Studios is pleased to announce our Call for Entries for “Pop Surrealism: A LowBrow Love Story” that coincides with our Third Saturday Open Studios on May 19th, 2018 from 5-10pm. This call for entries is open to all artists working in 2D & 3D media.

Originating in gritty garages, and the Kustom Kulture of California, the “Lowbrow” art movement has continued to grow, giving way to it’s modern evolution “Pop Surrealism “. Often combining pop art themes with surrealistic backdrops, Lowbrow/Pop Surrealism art paved the way for self taught artists to be accepted in galleries across the globe. With the adoption of this aesthetic by classically trained artists, the fine line between what’s high or Lowbrow has become increasingly blurred, redefining what is considered “fine art”. This show is to celebrate our Lowbrow love affair, for it’s diversity and acceptance of artists from all walks.
